Impedance / pH metry
Reflux is not always acidic!
In the esophageal impedance measurement, a transnasal probe is inserted to measure the electric conductivity of the esophagus contents together with a standard pH-measurement. Content flowing back from the stomach into the esophagus - whether acidic, non-acidic, liquid or gas - is measured.
The physical principle: Liquids or food, change the electrical resistance in the esophagus. The direction of the bolus can thus be determined by the arrangement of several sensors at different levels - a considerable advantage over the conventional pH metry.
Thus, the impedance-pH metry always provides the examiner a safe and reliable diagnosis - 100% Made in Germany
